On the one hand...

I got the first wine rack up courtesy of a recharged battery and transferred all the wine from the tottering heap to the shiny rack. In the process, I made the pleasant discovery that my inventory records were short a couple of cases so in fact the first rack is pretty much full and there is still a case of Bordeaux (in its nice wooden box) unshelved. Here endeth the good news.

Deciding that I was an energetic handybear I decided to at least mark up the holes for the next bit and maybe even drill some. However, on opening the package I found that the mounting brackets, which are supposed to come in left/right pairs, were all the same. Grrr. Still I did get rid of all the old corrugated etc.

More Anglo-American insanity

Any euphoria I may have felt over yesterday's decision by the Law Lords has been well and truly crushed by today's newspapers.

Looks like the British government is setting up to ignore the Law Lords. Get a constitution you guys! A system where the prime minister and a handful of cronies rule without any checks or balances doesn't deserve to be called a democracy.

On the other side of the pond Tariq Ramadan is refused a US visa. Hearts and Minds? Remember how you fucked that up in Vietnam? OK perhaps it's too much to expect Bush to remember a war he skived off from, especially as he was probably coked up most of the time but this decision is asinine.
