yes, I have been wondering what he's doing...When I said it was going to be like a one-day match, that wasn't quite what I had in mind...I have not followed Mr Pietersen's county career with particular interest - can he bat defensively?
The cricinfo stats database doesn't give a strike rate for batting for first class games. He has scored over 6000 first class runs though which suggests he can hang around.
I wonder how many eligible young women are doing that just now? It rather boggles my mind or something. KP could probably shag himself to death redeeming those pledges.
Doesn't give you his strike-rate, but you can review his county career match-by-match via CricketArchive's Player Oracle (http://www.cricketarchive.co.uk/cgi-bin/ask_the_player_oracle.cgi). (Enter name plus Nottinghamshire, as he hasn't really played many for Hampshire, and check Detailed Match List and First-Class.)
Er, sorry to be bombarding your journal with comments, but I'm getting twitchy, and Cricinfo's so bogged down I'm having difficulty getting at the pages I'm supposed to be getting at, so this is the equivalent of walking briskly round and round the garden and only looking at the television when I hear a scream on the radio.
You are most welcome. It's a pleasure to meet a fellow Mancunian cricket lover. Having Lancs in division 2 reminded me uncomfortably of the day I watched Denis Law score the goal for the Unmentionables that caused United to be relegated which seemed to entirely overthrow the Natural Order.
Funnily enough, I was hoping that Durham (my second county, for ancestral reasons) would win the second division. It would mean so much to them, whereas for Lancashire it would be a mildly embarrassing reminder that we'd been in the second division, even for a season. But given the way the table's stacking up, it looks like Durham might be pipped at the last after leading ever since April 15.
Durham is my second county too. I was at university there with paul Allott and Foxy Fowler, who has just pointed out how valuable Collingwood's knock today was.
FWIW, Collingwood was/is my college unlike Allott and Foxy who were at Grey ("Grey by name, grey by nature")
You're me in a parallel incarnation, aren't you? I didn't go to Durham though. I might have done if I'd seen it before they got first-class status, but it was a bit late by then.
