By the way, thinking of Films I Have Seen With Vaguely Mediaeval-Looking Warriors Riding About, have you ever seen Alfred the Great starring David Hemmings (1969)? It was extremely weird, but I'd like to see it again.

That's the man. Died a couple of years ago. Was a rather nasty Alfred, with a very fraught marriage.
