Literary Botticelli again

OK! So I won the last round chez [livejournal.com profile] ironed_orchid with my l33t LB skills and, as any fule noe, breaking the eternal chain of LB results in all kinds of dire consequences like not really getting 25 trillion Euros from the Libyan government (or BAE). Thus I get to host the next round.

In-depth directions for the game can be found here on [livejournal.com profile] kinetikatrue's page. It's laid out pretty nicely, so I suggest you go read and come back. But basically, the question you ask must be specific enough that I can answer confidently with a particular author or character (as in, "no, I'm not Elizabeth Bennett"). If I don't get the reference, you get to ask a more general question that can be answered with a yes or no, such as the person's sex, age, nationality, etc.

One question at a time, please. This means wait until I have answered the previous person's question before you post your own.

If you haven't played before please read through the LJ specific rules before you ask your question.

For this round, my name starts with "C".

I am a fictional character. I am English and of the 20th century. My creator is dead and was not female. I am a family man, eventually. I am not Charles Carruthers, Gordon Comstock, Gerard Crich or Dr. Cornelius.

[livejournal.com profile] coyotegestalt is very clever and successfully worked out that I am Guy Crouchback from Evelyn Waugh's Sword of Honour trilogy.

Given that I nominated Middlemarch for Humiliation it was unlikely!

My author is not female.

Did you buy petrol only the once, sometime in the '60s, for the James Bond bullet-hole decals that came with a fill-up?

[identity profile] chickenfeet2003.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I did not

[identity profile] dherblay.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Then you're not Crowley, from Good Omens. Assuming I'm not disqualified -- I can't tell whether or not you implicitly specified above that you have only a single creator -- is your author still alive?

[identity profile] chickenfeet2003.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
My author is dead

Are you a half-breed dwarf masquerading as a human in order to tutor a prince-in-danger about the Old Narnians?

[identity profile] chickenfeet2003.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I am not Dr. Cornelius

Heh (that's why I chose that question, nyahaha)

Are you unsure of what to do about Rosemary?

[identity profile] intertext.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Were you played by a young Michael York in a movie version of the work you appear in? (yikes - I hope that's a fair question...)

[identity profile] chickenfeet2003.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno. Enlighten me.

[identity profile] intertext.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
sorry - simultaneous posting. Answer Nanila first.

I guess you're not Gordon Comstock from Keep the Aspidistra Flying then.

Are you modern (as in 20th/21st century)?

[identity profile] chickenfeet2003.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I am 20th century

[identity profile] chickenfeet2003.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I am not Charles Carruthers

[identity profile] intertext.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That wasn't who I was thinking of, but I would have had to change my question anyway (was thinking of Tybalt Capulet). Good answer!

What I hate about Michael York is that he appears in films with the women I most lust after

[identity profile] intertext.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you play mind games on a Greek island with an English schoolteacher?

[identity profile] intertext.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. Well, I always rather fancied him, so we're even :)

[identity profile] chickenfeet2003.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You have me there

He's currently appearing at the Hummingbird Centre but to judge by the posters the years have not treated him kindly.

Hmm this sounds awfully like Maurice Conchis but he is Greek not English

Oh crap. Sorry. That's who I was thinking of.
