Question for the legal eagles

The rumour mill is saying that the trigger men in Menezes case may be charged with manslaughter. How can that be? They clearly intended to kill him so isn't it either murder or justifiable homicide? Can someone with more legal expertise than I please clarify?

Food and opera

Tonight's culinary experiment was an Oaxacan recipe for Entomatadas. Basically one dips fried tortillas in a chile-tomato sauce, folds them into triangles, naps each serving with more sauce and garnishes with quesa fresca, chopped onion and cilantro. Actually rather good and it makes a pretty plate.

In other news, I discovered for the nth time that I can't watch the closing scenes of Le Nozze de Figaro without tearing up. For the record it was the Terfel/Hagley DVD performance. Not as emotionally intense as the Giulini recording with Schwarzkopf as the Contessa but it is a video recording for which Ms. Hagley is a huge plus.
