All those good people who linked to Stephen Fry's article about history on the weekend might care to send a copy to Charlie Falconer. It's long been a contention of mine that a complete lack of any sense of history is the critical flaw at the heart of the "New Labour" project. Today's news that Bow Street Magistrates Court is to be sold to an Irish property developer is just one more, if small in itself, piece of cultural vandalism that rather tends to prove the point.
