Food and opera
Jul. 13th, 2006 08:21 pmTonight's culinary experiment was an Oaxacan recipe for Entomatadas. Basically one dips fried tortillas in a chile-tomato sauce, folds them into triangles, naps each serving with more sauce and garnishes with quesa fresca, chopped onion and cilantro. Actually rather good and it makes a pretty plate.
In other news, I discovered for the nth time that I can't watch the closing scenes of Le Nozze de Figaro without tearing up. For the record it was the Terfel/Hagley DVD performance. Not as emotionally intense as the Giulini recording with Schwarzkopf as the Contessa but it is a video recording for which Ms. Hagley is a huge plus.
