Worms

While the kittens were at the vet yesterday they each got a shot of dewormer. I went to clean the kitten litter boxes today to discover the most humongous roundworms I have ever seen. These things looked like they came straight out of Lost World or something. I'd be worried about something that big crawling around inside me , let alone in 600g of kitten.

Those poor kitties. I've never seen a roundworm and I'm hoping I never have to. The idea of it....ick.

The first time I had a foster animal produce roundworms was rather a shock. I had thought the little stray cat was a pregnant female. I caught 'her' and found she was a he. He went to the vet for a basic exam. That night he vomited up a mass of worms. Big freaking huge ugly bloody disgusting worms. I was so horrified that I took him to the emergency vet because there was no way anything that freaky looking could be right. They were calm and gave me dewormer.

Still, they are just horrific. Disgusting.

I'm glad your little ones are free of them now.

First of all: Eeeeeuuuurrrghghh. Ew. Ewewewewewewieew.

That said, better out than (still) in, no matter how disgusting they are to look at.

Could they be an additional reason why the smallest kitten wasn't putting on much weight?

Anyway, I'm pleased that hopefully the kittens are worm free.

They might be but I suspect they came from the other kitten who has had a touch of the runs

They really are amazingly big even when coming out of a full-grown cat. I can't imagine the kitten to worm ratio. Hope they're all doing better.
