It does sound very Canadian.
We had an earthquake a few years ago in
Dudley
of all places. It didn't take long for
Disaster Appeals
to hit the Internet.
Ottawa lacks the charisma of Dudley in that respect.

Earthquakes do happen in Ottawa. When I lived there we had one big enough to shake pictures off the wall.

That is really quite big. We had one in Warwickshire about five years ago, but it didn't even wake me up.

The one in Ottawa didn't wake me up either! I've actually slept through several earthquakes.

of course is the real earthquake expert as one might expect from a Californicator. She was in SF during the last big one.
