I have just scored Tatiana Nikolayeva's recording of Bach's Well Tempered Clavier. For them wot doesn't know, it was TN's performance of Bach at a piano competition in Moscow that inspired Dimitri Shostakovich to write the incomparable 24 Preludes and Fugues for her.

Lovely! I have a huuuuuge soft spot for Bach's piano pieces....I think between us, my mum and me own 3 different versions of the Goldberg variations (my favourite being the Glenn Gould one - genius!) Can't play Bach myslef, though - too tricky!

I have both of Gould's Goldberg recordings. Gould left a very large legacy to the Toronto Humane Society so we have a kitten konnection.

She was a great friend of a great friend of mine who was a mathematician. I heard her play the GV at his fiftieth birthday party, for which she had come over specially. It was truly amazing.
