It lived up to the hype. Natalie Dessay was wonderful. She's a great singer of course but she's also a wonderful comic actress and gives off so much energy. Juan Diego Flórez was perfect as Tonio and the supporting cast was wonderful too. The whole production was fast paced, beautiful, touching and, above all, very, very funny. Everybody involved was obviously having loads of fun and that communicated to the audience. I really don't think anyone who saw this production would be able to claim that opera is difficult or inaccessible.

And they were selling the DVD for less than $20. Score!

You should check out next year's season. There will be 11 performances and, if it's like this year and you can buy a package, it's less than $20 per opera.
