That was no fun

I think Padmini must be recovering judging by the amount of fight she put up when I tried to give her her antibiotic. After half an hour of struggling it is finally done but i am drenched in sweat and covered in cat hair. That was definitely not fun.

Is it me, or do cats instinctively know when you plan on giving them some form of medication? I try sneaking up on my cats with worming tablets and they just bolt...

No, they know. I just spent *days* trying to sneak up on Violet with an ampule of Advantage, to de-flea her. I finally caught her when she was asleep. Just to get flea stuff on her! The thought of trying to get pills into her, ever, is just... argh. Harold isn't quite so bad, but I think there's a big difference inasmuch as Vio spent her first two months living feral with her mum, and Harold was handled from the time he was about a week old.

I'm pleased that Padmini is recovering, but sorry that you're having such a fight with her over the anti-biotics. How long does she need to keep taking them?

just five days, thank goodness!

Oh it's not so hard giving her a pill. I just sit on her first ;)

Good sign, though. When they just sort of lie there and let you do it, then worry. Best to you and Pad. Please keep a good thought for yourself - you're a good sort. You'll manage. I know that sounds awful - when I'm depressed and people insist that I'll manage because I always do, I wonder sometimes if the tank isn't empty this time around. Please do get help if you need it to get you through.

The kittens need you, dear man.
