Committees, Bloody Committees
May. 21st, 2003 03:19 pmFor my sins, I am a member of the executive of my rugby club. Its a very good club. It could be a great club but like so many institutions things don't always run smoothly. Right now I'm in the middle of a fight over what to do about a particularly disruptive member. His case has been discussed 'ad nauseam' and everyone claims to be in agreement that something must be done but, every time, when it comes to specific incidents a majority of my colleagues go all mushy.
What should I do? Rational argument will make no difference. Those who can't stomach kicking the bugger out will continue to look at incidents individually and refuse to accept that there is a pattern. The options appear to be ignore it, fight another round or two or resign.
I don't think I like people very much.
