The wonders of technology

I just downloaded a bunch of MP3s of arias sung by the late Kathleen Ferrier. They are vinyl rips of recordings made in the 1940's and are not sonically perfect but not bad at all. There is something eerie about listening to the voice of someone who is long dead and something rather marvellous. I remember the first time I heard a recording of Marian Anderson (Handel - I Know That My Redeemer Liveth) it was while I was browsing in a record store, I didn't know who it was but I was damn near in tears.
