Assholes on the roads

What is it with drivers in this city? Twice in the last 24 hours I have seen spectacularly braindead behaviour in situations involving emergency vehicles.

Yesterday I was walking up Yonge Street and there was traffic stopped at the lights at one of the cross streets (Richmond?). One could clearly hear a siren approaching from the East (it turned out to be a fire truck). The light turned green and quite properly the leading car stayed put waiting for the fire truck to cross against the light. Some dickhead in an SUV two or three vehicles back starts blasting her horn at the guy! Where do they come from?

Today at the corner of University and Wellington I saw something similar. Traffic on University was stopped at the light, an ambulance was approaching the intersection Eastbound on Wellington at speed with lights and siren. The light changes and some idiot in a Honda goes straight across the intersection forcing the ambulance to brake.

How do these people get licences?
