According to this [livejournal.com profile] bopeepsheep has always lived within twenty minutes drive of her place of birth. I am not sure I have ever lived quite that close. Even my first few years were spent ten very urban kilometers or so from my birth place and it has been down hill since then. The distance peaked in 1993 when I was living in Melbourne which must be more than 20000km from Manchester. Most of the last 20 years though has been spent in Ottawa and Toronto which are a little over 5000km from Manchester by the great circle route over Goose Bay and Southern Greenland. Its perhaps no coincidence that my rugby club is called the Nomads.

Have I made good choices? There is time to see yet. Arcadian? Lemon? Say what you like!

I am pretty skeptical about horoscopes. I am pretty skeptical about lots of things actually. I had this idea the other day that horoscopes probably said more about the publication they appeared in than the person predicted for. A little research seems to confirm this. As evidence three versions of my Leonine horoscope for today:

The London Daily Telegraph
You could come up with a new solution to an old financial problem if you talk your situation through with someone you respect this week. With the Sun in sociable and easygoing Libra in the month ahead, you should also concentrate on getting out and meeting people. Friday's New Moon could well open doors unexpectedly, so be prepared to change your plans.

The Los Angeles Times
You feel undeniably harmonious, like someone turned your problems down a notch. Kick up your heels, and celebrate your good mood with friends and loved ones today. A Taurus is ready to party. Tonight, it's all how you spin the story.

The Toronto Sun
Your emotions will fluctuate, and you will change your mind quickly today. You will have to show compassion toward those who depend on you. Don't exaggerate.

See what I mean?

After all the hurricane brouhaha last week we got an inch of fairly gentle rain. Today and tonight though the wind is howling and the rain is bucketing down. Bulwer-Lytton would have appreciated it.
