Last night was the Nomads' players dinner. We ate ridiculously late for some reason. The oddest thing was that two of the juniors sitting at my table looked exactly like Frodo and Sam. Still I got my watch, which i thought was lost and gone forever, back.
Tonight I shall cook dinner for
lemur_catta to celebrate the new contract. Thus far the menu looks like:
Risotto with beet greens and watercress
Herb rubbed steaks with olives
Sauteed portobello mushrooms
Spring leaves with roasted beets, walnuts and blood orange
Cheese (Mont d'Or, Isle of Mull Cheddar and a chèvre fron Sevres)
I'm thinking Meerlust Rubicon 1996 with the steak but I'm not sure about the risotto. A white, I think but what? The options to hand range from Ontario Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewurz, Alsace Pinot Gris and Gewurz, white Rioja and there may be an odd bottle of Sauvignon Blanc lurking in the cellar.
