Heartbreaker at the Moat
Sep. 18th, 2005 07:42 amYork Yeomen 23 - Toronto Nomads 20
It was as nasty as expected and we let the Yeomen punch us off our game. Despite that it was 20-20 with seconds to go. The they scored a drop goal with the last kick of the game. So it goes.
So four points for the win for them and one for losing by less than seven points for us which leave the clubs level on points with one game to play. We are scheduled to play Highland but they have defaulted their last two games and presumably will default to us, so maximum points there. This means that York have to travel to Stoney Creek, beat them and score four or more tries to match us on points. If they do that they win the division because the first tie break is total points head to head. We beat them 15-13 at Fletcher's so they would win 36-35 on aggregate. This is particularly galling as our overall points for/against is much better than theirs; 488-107 versus 335-159.
Let's hope Peterborough this afternoon is more fun.
