chickenfeet: (rugby)
Today the weather was absolutely lovely; 8C and bright sunshine, perfect for rugby.

I played for the Loomers (no idea who they are but they aren't the NOBs). I played a full 80 minutes at second row for the first time since I stopped playing for the Nomads. Second row isn't more tiring than flanker but it it's differently tiring, particularly the scrums of course of which there were a lot today. To put it in perspective. I'm bleeding under several fingernails just from the strain of binding.

It was pretty much a brutal forward encounter with a lot of pick and go and some pretty heavy cleaning out. The referee, who used to play for Canada, said he'd been really surprised by the physicality of it. Personally, I thought it wasn't so different from most of the games I've played this year. As usual I made lots of tackles, lots of clean outs and got hit pretty hard when I did get the ball in hand. I have a feeling I'm really going to be feeling this tomorrow.
