Summer reading
Jul. 30th, 2006 03:38 pmI'm feeling a bit low today as my whole left side (diodes and all) is FUBAR'd by a pinched nerve and copious quantities of codeine have brought but slight relief. So, I'm nicking an idea from
misschili. I'm looking for book recommendations. I usually read mostly non-fiction, particularly history, but I'm open to other areas too. My fiction reading tends to classic and contemporary litfic and historical novels. I'm not averse to other genres but I've never been overly fond of mysteries, unless very clever. Really good comic novels are always a treat.
Examples of authors I've liked a lot:
History - Marc Bloch, Peter Linebaugh, Fernand Braudel, James Davidson, Francis Pryor, Modris Ecksteins
Fiction - Anthony Powell, David Lodge, Emile Zola, Alan Massie, Douglas Adams
