1. What's the best thing about being a management consultant?
The variety. There's always a problem one hasn't dealt with before. I also get to meet some pretty interesting people.
2. Do you have a road not taken? If so, what happened?
Quite a few really. What if I had read history rather than mathematics? If I had become a Labour MP? If I had gone to LBS rather than accepting a promotion in 1981? If I hadn't got married when I did? I don't know how any of them would have turned out.
3. Who's going to win the Cricket World Cup?
I still fancy Australia. At full strength they are a very tough outfit to beat.
4. Does the devil make work for idle hands?
Well I don't believe in the devil but taking the question metaphorically I'd say it depends. It's probably a good idea to keep intrinsically evil people too busy to do any damage but I don't think that leisure makes people bad.
5. How much harder is it to live your life being more intelligent than the average bear?
It's not just intelligence. It's a lethal cocktail of intelligence, curiosity and self doubt and it's a bugger. If I had a real belief in myself the intelligence would be a huge asset but I don't.
