chickenfeet: (cute)
We are home. The flight was about as smooth and uneventful as possible. We brought back two of lemurdad's gouaches plus a Katja Meirowski lithograph and a bunch of turquoise from the lemur collection. Some wall space reallocation is going to be needed.

Last night I was surrounded by cats who felt softer and furrier than I ever remembered. It was good. I need cats.

I am utterly and totally behind on LJ and probably won't get caught up. If there is something from the last two weeks I really ought to know about please let me know.

Blu-Ray

chickenfeet: (enigma)
My DVD player is starting to die. I'm thinking of replacing it with a Blu-Ray player but haven't really done a whole lot of research at this point. Basic requirements are that it should play BR/DVD/CD and preferably DivX and MP3; the main formats to a pretty good audio and video standard as they are going to be watched/listened to through fairly decent gear. Has anybody looked into this issue or have any thoughts?

In other AV news, the first tranche of DVDs of the last two season's Met broadcasts will be released on Angel tomorrow. Prices range from roughly $20-$30 here. I've pre ordered Peter grimes and The First Emperor. Others include Manon, Traviata and Hansel und Gretel.

We brought back a couple of [livejournal.com profile] lemur_catta's dad's gouaches from California, plus a lithograph by Katja Meirowski inscribed to him. The pictures show the gouaches now hanging over our fireplace. The picture of the Meirowski was a bit of an accident. I'll get a better one when it has been reframed.
