I was a bit surprised at my assignment today. There was a full docket and I was reffing an Ontario Women's League 2nd team game. Normally, given supply and demand, I'd have expected something a little more challenging. It was only after I got to Fletcher's that I realised that my game was the first of two televised games. Televised in the sense that three men and a dog will tune in by accident tomorrow when it's broadcast but, nonetheless, filmcrew and commentators were there. I have no idea who thought this would be a good candidate for TV (actually I do but I'm not telling). 117-0 is not good entertainment. It isn't even fun for the players or the referee. Normally I'd blow the game up a bit early in the circumstances but I couldn't do that because of the TV. Bleah!
