Nov. 25th, 2013 03:28 pmThree times now I have placed a hold on a DVD of Die Zauberfloete in the Toronto Public Library catalogue that is listed as a Royal Opera House production with Simon Keenleyside as Papageno. Three times William Kentridge's La Scala production has shown up. Each time I have drawn the problem to the attention of the librarian on duty. On one occasion this took considerable effort as she seemed quite incapable of understanding that two productions of the same opera, with different casts, from different places were in fact not the exact same thing. Each time I have been assured that they would fix the cataloguing. Well yeah. Imagine if we did this with drugs... "well they are both cytotoxics..."
