State of the Bear
Jan. 14th, 2015 12:47 pmStill not working. Various opportunities, ranging from promising to absurd, have been dangled but nothing has closed.
Two months of living in a basement during a rather harsh winter is taking its toll. Both the lemur and I are prone to depression and right now we seem to be taking it in turns. I had a bad meltdown on the weekend and ended up going for a two hour walk in a windchill of -25. It hasn't helped my respiratory problems.
The reno seems to be pretty much on schedule. They started drywalling on Friday so it should soon begin to look like an apartmernt again soon. I'm realising in lots of ways that this project is about details as well as the big stuff. Forex, I used to have two power bars behind the TV to allow plugging in the various bits of the home theatre. Same story with computer gear in the office. Soon I will have 12 power outlets behind the TV and 10 by my desk! Eye wateringly expensive it all is though!
Into the winter opera/concert season. It's starting to get crazy again. I count 21 shows between now and the end of February and that will probably go up.
I'm really looking forward to my eye surgery scheduled for Feb 11th. I have rather limited vision in my right eye and it's sti;; getting worse. It will be over a year from realising I had an issue to the surgery. The bottom line is that right now I struggle reading. I have to zoom most web stuff and some print I end up scanning so I can blow it up. It's very tedious.
Thre cats are also clearly getting tired of the current digs. Leela is being a very grumpy old lady indeed. Jane has reacted by being super snuggly. She's slept in my arms the last ferw nights and she's never done that before.
Glad rags tonight for the Season Announcement Gala at COC.
