Merkel's Santayana moment

Bismarck famously remarked that the next great European war would start over "some damn fool incident in the Balkans".  One wonders where German intransigeance and arrogance this weekend will lead, especially with an EU in/out referendum coming up in the UK.  After all, German imposed regime change has worked so well in Europe in the past.
