Men

Not sure what happened to Scotland. They started OK but as the game went on they just got sloppier. Very disappointing considering their heroics in the autumn tests. I;m not sure it tells us much about Wales either.

Are France really resurgent or were Ireland asleep for much of the match? Obviously the conditions were a factor too. I hope France get hammered for yet another piece of blatant cheating with the HIA protocol.

Kudos for Italy for ambition but England didn't panic and came through for the big win.  If and when England get their big No.8 units back could Sam Simmons be the answer at 7?  How about playing an hour with, say, Teo at 13 and Vunipola at 8 battering the opposition to pulp and then bringing on Simmons and Joseph and switching to a pace game against a tired opposition?

Women

No real surprises.  Wales edged the battle of the schoolgirls.  Italy put up a surprising resistance against England before being decisively put away.  Ireland look in tatters.  It's England against France for the title.  I'm still a bit surprised that at this elite level there are still grossly out of shape players.  It's been decades since one could play fatties at prop in the men's game.
