So about 45 years ago I read Thomas Pynchon's "The Crying of Lot 49" and started having nightmares about the von Thurn und Taxis family. Ever since they have haunted me like Spiny Norman spooking Dinsdale Piranha. Today I watched a rather unusual production of Die Zauberflöte in which all the characters were playing German/Austrian aristos playing the roles. One of the Three Ladies was a von Thurn und Taxis. And today is the anniversary of the conviction of the Krays for the murder of Jack "the hat" McVitie. There are simply not enough spoons.
