Rob Ford again

The interesting thing about the Rob Ford situation isn't the appalling man himself or his equally appalling brother but his supporters.  Nothing the Fords do or say rocks their core support.  Why?  It seems that their supporters really buy into the idea that all the stories about the Fords are fabrications by a "liberal elite" who control the press and the airwaves.  Never mind that police are investigating a shooting that appears to be related to a video that they have categorically denied the existence of.  Never mind that the mayor's inner circle are deserting him.  It's all a fabrication.  At this point it's hard to imagine anything that could happen that would shake this belief.  It's almost like Fundamentalist religion; completely immune to evidence or reason.  I find it disturbing that a solid third of the city seems to be of this view.
