On Vogonity

Well not really. Twice recently I've seen massively ambitious works of non-standard form presented, expensively, as part of major arts festivals. Both of them were the creations of high profile personages and neither of them was terribly good. I wonder what it is that attracts organisers/curators of such festivals to support such pieces. I'm very much an outsider looking in when it comes to the world of "official" art.

For the record I'm talking about R. Murray Schafer's Apocalypsis and Nicole Brooks' Obeah Opera.
