I think I've about had it with Facebook. I've been using "social media" since the days of Usenet and I'm pretty sure I have never seen anything near as crass as FB. I stayed away for a long time on grounds of not wanting to play in a sandbox owned by a particularly problematic bunch of corporate crooks but recently, since virtually everyone I know seems to have migrated there, I decided to give it a decent try. It's awful. The standard of discourse is pre-school and half the content is partisan junk that is either years out of date or has already been debunked. It makes the AOLers who invaded Usenet look intelligent. Bleh!

A lot of the people who actually show up on my fb feed are people I met here, because they post interesting content (or links to interesting content) and know how to have and how to moderate a discussion.
