Filming gratuitously
Jan. 21st, 2016 04:23 pmI watched Hitchcock's The 39 Steps last night. I suppose I must have seen it at some point in the distant past but I had no recollection of it. I'm not sure I have ever seen a film with the same title as a book that is so gratuitously and pointlessly different from the book. Also massive continuity issues. e.g. Hannay leaves the Flying Scotsman on the Forth Bridge while northbound from Edinburgh Waverley then shows up on foot in the Highlands (a couple of hours from Inveraray) with no obvious means of getting there. It's like Shakespeare rewritten by Sarah Palin. Also what's with all the shots of people's feet?
