What are you currently reading?

Much Obliged Jeeves

How long have you been reading it (or them)? How much longer do you think it will take you to read it?

I opened it a couple of days ago. I imagine I will finish it today.

Is it a gobble-in-one-session sort of book, or a read slowly through book, or a pick a page at random now and then book?

Easy reading.

Do you ration books and force yourself to read them slowly? What books have you done this with recently?

No. Normally I read rather fast.

Do you sometimes *wish* that you'd rationed a book when you get to the end of it?

No

What was the last book you bought?

The Greens Cookbook

Do you know what book you're going to buy next?

I have several on order; Paradise Lost, Robert Massie's Castles of Steel, a biography of the prophet Mohammed, Proust's In Search of Lost Time.

How many borrowed books are sitting on your shelves?

One or two

When will they get given back?

I think I have had them for between ten and twenty five years so they may not get returned.

How many books of yours are currently on other people's shelves?

Again, one or two.

When do you expect them to return?

I don't.

The Greens Cookbook

Yay! I make two pastas from this cookbook absolutely all the time. Pasta one is the "Cockscombs, Tomatoes, Garlic, and Parsley." Pasta two is the "Spaghetti Tossed with Eggs, Smoked Cheese, And Fried Bread Crumbs." Comfort food. Yum, yum. I kind of want to go make the smoked cheese pasta now.

I did a double take when I saw the first recipe you mention. Then I remebered it was a veggie book! Cockscombs were much used as a garnish in Edwardian era haute cuisine, or so my old copy of Larousse Gastronomique would suggest.
