To Trinity St. Paul's last night for Isabel Bayrakdarian in recital with Tafelmusik. They are recording a CD of arias from baroque Cleopatra operas by Handel, Graun, Hasse and Mattheson and Isabel is doing a selection at each of her concerts here. We got the Graun and Mattheson excerpts. Needless to say, neither of these are works that I am familiar with but it was enjoyable and they suited Isabel's rather dramatic voice. It was interesting to hear her sing in German which was a first for me.
Tafelmusik also gave us the Handel and Hasse overtures, a concerto for two violins by Vivaldi and an excellent Telemann Suite for 2 Oboes, Bassoon and Strings. All in all, well worth braving the rather savage weather for.
