Has the weather where you are finally started acting like spring is here?

I stare out across an icy wasteland.  The wind whips up whitecaps on the harbour.  Power is out in parts of the city.  The icy fingers of King Winter squeeze my vitals

Do you have any special spring activities or outings planned?

I am going to Montreal for the MIMC at the end of May.  Hopefully by then the cherry blossom will have appeared.  Though more likely the trees are all dead.

Have you started wearing different clothing appropriate to spring?

Are snow boots appropriate for spring?

What signs of spring are manifesting around you?

In some places the snow drifts have melted yielding their annual bounty of dog turds and cigarette packets.

Are there special foods you enjoy preparing and/or eating in the spring?

I am looking forward to fresh fish as soon as the fishermen can go out on the lake without severe risk of it being a one way trip.

Special foods for the spring? That brought back grim memories of meals in 1950s England. Too late for winter vegetables like cabbage and cauliflower and root crops, too early for salad stuff and peas and beans, the only fresh vegetables were potatoes and onions (the latter not thought suitable for children); the vegetables on my plate were tinned peas, tinned carrots, tinned baked beans ang, Heaven help me, tinned Heinz spaghetti. I can't see anybody nowadays counting that as one of one's "five a day".

Tinned spaghetti is one "food" I have never been able to fathom despite having worked at Kitt Green.
