Plans for the weekend
Jan. 23rd, 2004 04:20 pmI feel in the mood to cook this weekend and the freezer is currently much depleted. I already have a large batch of red pepper and cabbage soup on the go and tomorrow I shall head to the market for more goodies. I shall definitely make a beef daube (freezer staple around here) and I was sorely tempted by pork at the market today but the Milton Hungarians are only around on Saturdays and I would rather buy large chunks of their excellent piggy things. I see a pork roast, dried sausage and double smoked bacon in tomorrow's shopping bag. I could usefully do some other kind of stew thing (suggestions?) or maybe choucroute garni if there is decent sauerkraut to be had.
In other news, I ran today in a blustery -15C and it wasn't too bad. It will be colder tomorrow and Sunday so that may test my resolve.
