I discovered the other night that one of our local brew pubs, Growler's has gone out of business, probably a victim of SARS, or more accurately ALTS (acute lack of tourists syndrome). Besides being the scene of a memorable piss up with a Czech rugby side some years ago, Growler's was unusual in being a brew pub that didn't focus on British style beers, instead specialising in German style lagers and bocks, both light and dark. While I am definitely more of an English style beer person myself and probably visited C'est What? or The Granite Brewery at least ten time for every time I made it to Growler's I hate to see variety diminish (that's the complexity theorist in me!).
