Gladiator Games
Jul. 5th, 2003 04:07 pmJust got back from watching the Galadiator Games or Ludi Torontonenses. Its a fringe festival production by Upstart Crow following on from their rugby playing version of the Shakespeare Wars of the Roses plays.
This time the idea was a gladiator show working in bits of Julius Caesar, Titus Andronicus, Anthony and Cleopatra, Coriolanus and Timon of Athens with bits of Monty Python and The Lion King along the way.
It had its moments; small child thrown to the lions, Christians boring the lions out of the arena, some of the Titus stuff, but it didn't quite come off. Oh well, at least no-one confused me with Dave McKay (Caesar) for once.
