Romeo and Juliet
Apr. 17th, 2004 04:24 pmJust watched the first half of the Zeffirelli Romeo and Juliet. I saw this flick when it first came out (1968) and loved it then. I still do. Sure the acting of the principals isn't RSC quality but they were only 17 and 18 when the film was made and they look so right. Visually, all up this is a spectacular film.
The 17 year old Olivia Hussey is so much a part of my personal iconography. I guess the picture is particularly 'stuck' because I don't remember any of the rest of her largely forgettable films. Anyway, I was having trouble with the idea of her in her fifties. Maybe its just that it makes me feel old! So, for the record:
( Then and Now )
