Busy weekend
Oct. 31st, 2004 06:55 amIt's been a social whirl this weekend which is distinctly odd since the curmudgeonly bear but rarely emerges from his cave.
Friday night was
ginny_t's Freedom From Corporate Slavery bash featuring many of Toronto's LJ community, walking Guinness glasses, darts, silliness and not enough fuzzy sweaters.
Saturday began with the early kitten feeding shift followed by Dracula Has Risen From The Grave which is an OK standard Hammer Drac movie. Then off to Fletcher's for a day of rugby. By tradition there are one or two old boys' games before the finals begin. This year it resolved into lions vs Saracens (this being determined by what sets of shirts were available). I found myself captaining the Saracens which was a bit odd but there we go. It was fun if a bit damp.
The finals themselves were a very damp affair with torrential rain much of the time. The Scottish squeaked past the Nomads by seven in the Intermediate Cup thanks to some very good goal kicking by their stand off and a Nomads back line that never really got going. In the McCormick Cup, Balmy Beach blanked the Irish 10-0 and were much the better side on the day. The total lack of a goal kicker on the Irish side hurt them badly.
Today
lemur_catta and I are lunching with
cassandre and her partner as she is in town for a conference. Should be fun.
