lemur_catta and I wandered up to check out Pride and the Dyke March yesterday. The whole event has become very large and very mainstream. The stalls that line Church Street for the event seem to have less of an 'alternative' feel every year. Big personal products and pharma companies are present together with immigration lawyers and the big banks. Major TV and radio stations are represented along with
Democrats Abroad and the public sector unions. If the Catholics were there it would be all but indistinguishable from St. Patrick's Day. In many ways of course this is a good thing but it has definitely loss some edge in he process.
We hung around for the start of the Dyke March and saw the Newsgirls in full combat gear but we didn't stay long. The sun was causing the lemur to long for her crypt and I was getting increasingly nervous about my shoulder as the crowd thickened. I think I'll skip the Parade today.
