Party, forty, rugby
Nov. 5th, 2006 08:16 amLast night I went to a former team mates fortieth birthday party. It was a bit odd as I knew absolutely nobody there but him. All the folks were from different compartments of his life that I have never crossed into. Very different worlds too by the look of it. Everything from pub casual types like me to one or two women dressed up to the nines; sequins, kinky boots and big hair. Still there was beer and quesadillas and cake so i had a more than acceptable time. I even managed to get a commitment from Mo to come out and play again next year. He's marathon running fit so he should be a useful acquisition.
Reflecting on last Sunday, I remembered one thing that happened (between the ill temper and fisticuffs) that seems to show that my shoulder really is fully healed. At one point I put a good hard tackle in on one of their larger forwards with my right shoulder (the one that was separated). It put him on the ground, with a dead leg, twitching for a couple of minutes. I figure that's as good a test as any!
Off to Burlington (again!) this afternoon to play for Loomer. I fear a repeat of last week but one can but hope.
