Predictable
Nov. 6th, 2006 09:16 amIt's unsurprising that one can predict, reasonably reliable, what bits are going to be sore the morning after a rugby match. Most of the games I've played recently have been characterised by a lot of 'pick and go' and, therefore a lot of bruising tackles, rucks and clear outs. That tends to mean sore shoulders, upper arms and usually a few bashes around the face. Yesterday was more open with lots of running and more mauls than rucks. Lots of scrums too which made a difference because i was playing second row. The ground was a bit heavy too. The net result; stiff hamstrings from the running on heavy ground and the many scrums and several twisted up fingers from all the mauls. (It's not in the coaching manuals but every forward knows the best way to get soomeone's hand off a ball in a maul is to grab a couple of fingers and twist).
