More biking
Apr. 27th, 2008 11:53 amI did a little over ten seventeen miles of rather more varied terrain today. I went up the Don Valley and taylor Creek to Victoria Park Avenue, then south to the lake and along the Martin Goodman to Cherry Beach and, finally north via the docks and the distillery to home. There were more hills than my lat ride and the surfaces varied more too. Most of the way was on paved trail (in considerably varied states of (dis)repair) or city street but there was a bit of unpaved trail, a couple of fords and some beach, some boardwalk and some metal bridge decks. The bike coped well with everything except the loose sand and gravel on the beach. That doesn't surprise me. I've got city tyres on it and they are not designed for loose surfaces. I've had to make a few minor running in adjustments but really nothing of consequence. I need to plan out a longer route for next weekend.
Spring in the air... boing!
Apr. 27th, 2008 03:11 pmIt really is a lovely spring day.
lemur_catta and I had a very pleasant brunch at Barrio on Queen Street East. They do a rather excellent Benny variant with crabmeat and green onion. Also several good beer choices on tap.
Coming home I took some pictures:
1. The true confirmation that winter is over, patio dining
2. A Toronto landmark (very decent food and Fuller's porter on tap)
3. The Don river in springlike garb
4. Just to be crass and vulgar
