Predictably, the classical musicians among my friends have not reacted at all well to the Welsh Warbler being awarded an OBE. I don't think it's the gong per se. It's rather it being awarded for "services to classical music". What strikes me though is the aptness of awarding the order of something non-existent for non-existent services. I rather like it. That said, if she'd been a predatory paedophile, a Soviet spy or a convicted fraudster she would have got at least a DBE, possibly a peerage.
