Well not really. Twice recently I've seen massively ambitious works of non-standard form presented, expensively, as part of major arts festivals. Both of them were the creations of high profile personages and neither of them was terribly good. I wonder what it is that attracts organisers/curators of such festivals to support such pieces. I'm very much an outsider looking in when it comes to the world of "official" art.

For the record I'm talking about R. Murray Schafer's Apocalypsis and Nicole Brooks' Obeah Opera.

I don't think Australia are betting much better this afternoon or England bowling much worse.  What would have been edges on Day 1 are just missing the edge.  The odd catch goes down.  60 all out is 57/0.

Follow up polls to last night's Maclean's leaders debate, estimated to have been watched by five Canadians, surprisingly showed Cthulhu of the Perpetual Evil party considered a clear winner by most respondents.  Analysts see this as a sign that his strategy of going beyond Stephen Harper's tactic of saying nothing meaningful by not actually showing up resonates with voters fed up with politicians like Green Party leader and MP for Aging Hippy Central Elizabeth May's clear articulation of coherent policies.  Mr Harper when asked whether he would consider a coalition with Perpetual Evil reviewed to answer and chewed surreptitiously on a kitten.  Cthulhu campaign spokesperson Doug Ford, in contrast, said he could see no good reason why one soulless alien life form shouldn't make common cause with another.
