The Rogers technician has just replaced our HD Cable box with a shiny, new Explorer 8000HD PVR. It's pretty cool. It will record up to 50 hours of programming and even two programmes at once. Shiny!

Pity there is so little worth recording.

Is that one of those devices that will let you essentially 'program' your own channel by automatically recording the shows that you specify? If it is, I'm jealous.

That's pretty much it. One scrolls around the Interactive Program Guide and tells it which shows to record. It will do either one offs or daily/weekly repeat settings. It stores 30-50 hours of programming and you can playback at will, even while recording something else.
