So yesterday we celebrated [livejournal.com profile] lemur_catta's xxth birthday. Most of the day was spent lazing around playing with the bengals and being generally goofy before heading out for dinner. We didn't want to go anywhere expensiveposh and dressy so we ended up at The Real Jerk (no sniggering at the back there). It was exactly what we needed. The food was excellent; oxtail and jerk pork for madame, rundown shrimp for me, both with rice and peas and coleslaw. The drinks were just as good; really good rum and ginger beer and Fuller's Porter, I don't know anywhere else in Toronto you can get Fuller's. That alone will have me going back. The music was soft reggae, the service was friendly and one of the Nomads' 1st XV was working that night and came along to say hello. All in all a rather pleasant evening.

That sounds good. I'm glad you both had a pleasant day.

You can actually get Fuller's Porter (and London Pride as well) in most LCBOs that have a decent beer selection.

Unless you meant you don't know of any other bar or restaurant where you can get it. In which case you're right - I've seen it at beer bars like Smokeless Joe and beerbistro, but I don't think I've ever seen it served at a regular restaurant.

And speaking of beer and The Real Jerk - have you guys ever been to the Riverside Cafe (http://www.riverside-cafe.ca/) just across the street from the Jerk? It's a great restaurant with a fantastic beer list, and something like 30 different types of mussels on the menu. Well worth a visit if you've never been.

What was surprising was that the Porter (and London Pride) were on draught. I haven't tried the Riverside Cafe. Another time perhaps.

Wow. I've had Pride on tap before, but never the Porter. They must've hired a beer-loving manager or something in the last few years, as the selection there used to be awful.
