Because we dined out last night, tonight was my chance to cook birthday dinner for the lemur. We had:

Thick coconut beef curry
Shrimps stirfried with chillis, garlic and basil
Spinach stirfried with chillis, garlic and bean sauce
Cucumber relish
Coconut milk lemon soup with mushrooms and fishballs
Rice
Marynissen Gewurztraminer 2000

Roll on Thailand!

Excellent, I think that may be the last bottle but I have a case of 2002 which is even better.

Ordinary Thai rice cooked in an electric rice cooker.

Yummy! I love Thai food. I've toyed with the idea of cooking it, but I've been intimidated by the ingredients. I'm sure they really aren't that hard to find if I put my mind to it, but so far a can of coconut milk and a jar of curry paste is the extent of my Thai culinary adventuring.

Forget the canned/bottled curry pastes, they are just chillis and salt. Thai isn't hard if you can find the ingredients which shouldn't be too hard in Seattle. Try a Vietnamese market.
