Mailing list rant

The stupidity of some people on mailing lists really bugs me. One person on one work related list I subscribe to has sent three messages to the list in the last 24 hours of the "stop ending me this stuff" variety. What is it about "unsubscribe" that this person doesn't get? And why does she suppose that 500 or so people want to receive proof that she's a dolt?

Oh, I could write entire treatises about stupidity on mailing lists. Some people really ought never to be allowed near a computer. Chief among them are the ones who get the digest version of a mailing list every couple of days, and insist on copying the entire thing in their replies, and the ones who copy that entire reply in their reply a few days later, and ... well, you see where this is going.

Actually in one of dolt's messages she manages to include the entire circulation of the list (normally hidden in the bcc field) three times!

Aaargh, tell me about it! Why do people think they're getting the messages in the first place? Not to mention the 'leaving long trailer of decreasingly, or completely ir-, relevant previous posts dangling at the foot of the message', failing to unsub or set list to no mail, so everybody gets repeated postings of their out-of-office message, sending one line or even one word responses.... and that's before the embarrassing personal notes sent to entire list.
